Preparing for Disaster

Natural disasters, such as earthquake and volcanic eruption, are unpredictable and there is no way to know when they happen.
Furthermore, we have been experiencing localized heavy rain that we had never had before almost everywhere in this country in recent years. Obviously, the way it rains has never been the same as it used to be.
Here, we would like to share with you the idea of “a disaster that could happen tomorrow”.

To Prevent Panic in Evacuation

Talk about what to do in case of an evacuation with your family.

You are the person who are chiefly responsible for your life and properties in the event of a disaster - no one else. Discuss beforehand what to do in an evacuation, plan places where your family will meet, and so forth.

● Each of you should pay attention to the intensity of the rain and the status of floodwater. If you feel any danger, use your own judgment to evacuate yourself even before the evacuation advice or order.

● Pay attention to the sound of siren, fire bell, or public address vehicles of municipal office or fire department.

● Old people and children should evacuate as early as possible. Help evacuation of old people, children, or sick people in your neighborhood.

● The evacuation at night could be dangerous. Allow sufficient time for your evacuation.

● Do not use a car for an evacuation

● Get together with your neighbors and move in group when you evacuate.

● Reduce your belongings to the bare minimum when you evacuate.
