Tohoku Chuo Expressway is a 268 kilometers long high-standard highway connecting Fukushima Prefecture and the Soma, Fukushima, Yonezawa, Yamagata and Shinjou cities to Akita Expressway in Yokote city.
The route connects all major cities of Fukushima, Yamagata and Akita prefectures. On top of that, forming the south-east-north road network, its connection to Joban, Tohoku Juukan, Yamagata and Akita’s Expressways makes it pivotal for interregional travel and ideal as a bypass substitute in case of emergency.

Soma Fukushima Road is a 45 kilometers long high-standard highway (car only) tying Joban and Tohoku Juukan Expressways. It was a pivotal path to leading project of emergency recovery from Great East Japan Earthquake. The road is looking up for early completion as due to emergency adjustments after the disaster it successfully connected the disaster and inland areas being pivotal to all reconstruction support.
