Soma-Fukushima Road (Ryozen Road/Abukuma Higashi - Abukuma)

In National Route 115, there are some sections whose curvature and width are quite inadequate and others where traffic will be restricted in unusual weather because of a landslide risk. For that reason, the route lacks reliability and stability that are usually required for the interregional highways.

Abukuma Higashi Road, as a High-Standard Highway, is designed to promote an interregional exchange in an extended region as well as to solve the problem of the narrow or regulated traffic sections of Route 115, and provide a transportation route in case of a disaster or emergency.
